SKE for History Buffs
SKE was founded in 1988 by integrating resources from two German construction firms, Klee KG and Ehrenfels. SKE, initially known as SKE Facility Management Services, grew out of a 1976 U.S. Army pilot program designed to determine the feasibility of out sourcing U.S. Military family housing maintenance entirely by contract. The pilot program proved successful, leading SKE to secure and successfully fulfill several other Military Family Housing Maintenance contracts, plus Total Maintenance (TMC) type contracts for entire military communities throughout Germany.

SKE began with construction, repair and maintenance services for the U.S Government in 1989, via the U.S. Army, when the first ever Job Order Contract (JOC) type contracts were initiated in the military communities of Mannheim, Heidelberg and Würzburg, Germany. In this effort, SKE partnered with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Europe District, in pioneering this method of minor construction, repair and maintenance services for the United States Army Europe (USAREUR). Since those initial contracts, SKE has expanded its customer base to a position as an industry leader in providing this, and other Indefinite Delivery-Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) type construction services for the U.S Government, initially in Germany and the Benelux, and now throughout Europe and the United States. SKE has since evolved into SKE International, operating as the sole U.S. Government services provider of the SKE Group of companies.
