2009 SKE International, Incorporated (SKE II) President’s Award

image7 image8It is with pleasure that I announce the 2009 SKE International, Incorporated (SKE II) President’s Award has been bestowed to Regina White. Regina is the Corporate Contracts and Business Administrative Specialist for SKE II and works out of the corporate office in Platte City, Missouri.

2009 was a challenging year for SKE II and I am proud of everyone who pitched in and worked so hard to level the bumps in the road. I singled Regina out for special recognition because of the many and varied issues she deals with on a day-to-day basis. Regina’s responsibilities reach from finance and accounting to personnel to subcontractor and prime contractor relationships to maintaining a positive relationship with all of our customers. Regina manages to maintain the integrity of all of these responsibilities; answering to many requests – both from within and outside the organization – in a timely and accurate manner. Regina’s contribution to the organization is exceptional and is greatly appreciated by all of those she supports.

This is the first year that the President’s Award program has been in effect; instituted to recognize outstanding overall contribution to the company, our customers and our employees. Congratulations and thank you Regina for a job very, very well done!  --Richard Turner, President and CEO

TM Stuttgart & SKE SSG Donate €10,000 to the Wounded Warrior Fund

On 30 November, Winfried Hartmann CEO of TM Stuttgart GmbH (TM) and Scott Brubaker representing SKE Support Services Gmbh (SSG), donated a €10,000 check to Chaplain James Griffith (U.S. Army Colonel) for the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC) Wounded Warrior Fund.

The Wounded Warrior Fund is managed by the LRMC Chaplain’s Office and is supported by military and civilian volunteer efforts, and by individual, organizational, and corporate gifts and funds. The program provides clothing, toiletries, and many other helpful items for soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines and civilians receiving treatment at the hospital.

Although the military medical system provides excellent medical services, the system does not provide much needed basic essential items to wounded personnel who have been evacuated from military operational areas and are convalescing or being transferred to medical facilities in the USA. The funds provide these comfort items which are much welcomed beyond the traditional hospital gown, bathrobe and slippers.

Chaplain Griffith explained that the program had grown from a simple idea a few years ago by nurses at the hospital who recognized the need to a $300,000 operation housed in its own building. Chaplain Griffith noted that the only problem they have is that patients are often reluctant to take what they need because they are concerned there won’t be enough for those coming later. During a short tour of the facility, Chaplain Griffith pointed to a plastic box simply labelled, “single shoes”—a very real reminder of the sacrifices some of the patients have made.

SSG and TM are proud to contribute to the Wounded Warrior Fund and in this small way give back something to our ultimate customers. This donation was made by these two SKE firms in lieu of holiday gifts to customers and employees and is highlighted in the firms annual holiday cards.

SKE Completes its First Project in Bulgaria with Flying Colors

SKE recently accomplished a milestone by completing its first project for the U.S. Military in Bulgaria. The task order project, executed as a part of SKE’s U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Job Order Contract (JOC) Romania , included the requirement to furnish and install electrical sub-distribution panels, and to connect feeder cables to the main distribution panel in the Bulgarian Headquarters Building at the Novo Selo Training Area (NSTA), Sliven. The NSTA is the planned location for the Forward Operating Site Bulgaria to be built and operated by the US Military. The project was essential to the site’s preparation for the Joint Task Force – East Rotation Exercise of July 2008.

In coordination with the Corps of Engineers, the US Embassy in Sofia, and Bulgarian Ministry of Defense, SKE performed this highly visible project in a compressed timeline, exceeding the customer’s expectations in timeliness and quality. For a job well done, SKE received a Letter of Appreciation from the Office of Defense Cooperation, US Embassy Sofia, recognizing its contribution to the successful completion of the project and accomplishments beyond the call of duty.
